Rippling bonds

the earthy touch
in countless ways
ostensibly lock us well.
no matter how many tears
one may shed down the lane
for peace to generously dawn
ceaseless desires a ligature so strong.

a rock cast into the pond
ripples rush wider and wider
likewise this mind's hankering
in wider circles encircle us.
till this bond is in ceaseless effort
gradually subdued,
ripples become smaller and smaller.

in the center we stay put
until ripples weaken within us
and with only us remaining
nothing but peace shall reign supreme.

through the ages of human history
sages and saints have proven
desires unbridled are but  chaos invited
voluntarily to muddle the mind
and kill us before we die.

so simple as it may sound
it is a job not easy
but reality remains
a reality,
we have to kill the ripples
before we die b'coz of them.

  2. As Denise said, this is a very thought-provoking poem.. We all have a lot of ripples in our lives, don't we??? Some may be good ---some not so good.
    Hugs,
    Betsy
